Established only in September of 2007, Grassfield is Chesapeake's newest high school with an attendance of 2150 students. Being a brand new school also gave the developers the ability to create the areas' most advanced technology school as well. For example, every classroom in GHS has a smart board. Grassfield High School was brought about due to the over-crowded classrooms of the other 3 major high schools in Chesapeake: Hickory High School, Deep Creek High School, and Great Bridge High School. The school has a very strong academic program along with 24 varsity athletic teams and many programs for extra-curricular activities.
At last check there were 320 homes for sale in the Grassfield High School district, ranging in price from $185,000 to $949,000. Of this list, 42 homes are attached town homes and the remainder are single family detached homes. The size of these homes range from 864 square feet to 6,000 square feet. The area surrounding the school was largely rural at one time which is why a large portion of the current homes on the market have been built within the last couple of years. Out of the 320 homes currently for sale, 127 of them were built in 2007 or after.
Even though there's a lot of empty land in the district, the school was built very close to Cedar Road with easy access to a brand new Walmart and many businesses and restaurants.
