The Hampton Real Estate Market and Area

As of today, there are 907 homes for sale in Hampton from $44k to $1 million and the median house value in 2007 was $188,600. There are a wide variety of homes here including condos, townhomes, detached single family homes, waterfront properties, and large luxury homes. There really aren't any rural areas that I'm aware of in Hampton but a good mixture of neighborhoods in all price ranges. Even though a lot of the city contains older homes with not that many new subdivisions, there are plenty of choices with good homes and neighborhoods. Some of the more sought after areas in Hampton include Wythe, Buckroe, Farmington, Grandview, Hampton Woods, Salt Ponds, and Riverdale. As with the rest of Hampton Roads, there is a ton of inventory and sellers want your business.

The Area

From last years census bureau, Hampton's population has exceeded 146,000. Hampton is the first city you come to when crossing the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel from Norfolk. Hampton Roads is made up of 2 major sections, the Penninsula and the Southside. Hampton, along with Newport News, is located on the Penninsula. Most of the people who work on the Penninsula also reside there due to the traffic conditions in and around the tunnel from Norfolk. On the other hand, this city is central to the beaches of Virginia Beach and Richmond. Notable things to do include Buckroe Beach, Hampton Coliseum, Fort Monroe, Langley Speedway, and Sandy Bottom Nature Park. Some of the sought out schools in the area are Bethel High School, Kecoughtan High School, and Pheobus High School.
